Needed somewhere close to work to save me a 100 mile drive home. Booked a single room at The Red Lion,, not knowing anything about it. The pub was lovely, very friendly staff. The young man who appeared to be running the pub the evening I stayed was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. He showed me up to my room and explained the meal arrangements etc. The room was adequate, very quite, upstairs at the back of the pub so was not disturbed by noise from the pub downstairs.
I had a lovely meal in the bar, very reasonably priced, good service and good value for money. I slept well, the bed was comfortable. The shower and bathroom facilities were fine. I could not take advantage of the breakfast which is included in the price as they didn’t start serving until 7:00 am and I had to leave at that time to get to work. Perhaps they could consider either starting breakfast earlier for guests needing to leave early for work or provide a packed breakfast ( muffins, fruit etc) to take away. Overall, I enjoyed my night at the Red Lion and would recommend it to anyone in need of a cheap and cheerful place to stay, close to Ely but not Ely prices!!!

We went here for a birthday.
Excellent service food was wonderful and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Just watch out for the potatoes you have with your meal as they add pepper. That aside definitely will be going back again.
Stayed April 2016, travelled with family.

Lovely annex room at the rear of the pub ideal as we have a dog. Large wet room with a fabulous shower and lovely toiletries. The breakfast was great with plenty of choices. The staff here are very friendly and nothing is too much for them. Minutes away from Wicken Fen. The food served in the bar is very good value for money. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely Welcome, Good Food
We called in here for lunch and as soon as we walked through the door we were cheerily greeted and shown to the conservatory at the back where we could choose any table we liked. Drinks were brought to us at the table and we were informed that one item on the menu was not available as it was sold out. The food we chose was very good. All the staff were happy and cheerful. Great staff, great food, what more could you want? Would recommend heartily and wish it was local!
Stayed March 2016.

Lovely Village Pub B&B
I stayed here in a single room for a few nights in early late January while in the area on business. I had a very pleasant stay, the room was clean and tidy. The bathroom, while spartan on decoration was both spotlessly clean and well equipped. The excellent shower was appreciated, as all too often hotel showers are anaemic and frustrating – not a problem here!
Breakfast was included in the extremely inexpensive room rate and was very nice. I ate here both nights and the food was also really good, with large portion sizes. I would recommend the whitebait as a highlight.
It is worth saying that this IS a working pub and as such some later evening and early morning noise is expected. That said, it did not cause any problems for me and I slept well.
I found the locals very nice and accommodating and they were happy to chat with a stranger at their bar. In all an excellent stay for the price and I would look forward to staying here again.
